Aster exits Pune project

Healthcare major Aster DM Healthcare has recently exited its 60-bed multi specialty hospital project, Aster Medipoint. The hospital is located at Aundh area of Pune. In the year 2012, Aster DM Healthcare had acquired 51% stake in Medipoint Hospital, promoted by a group of around 25 local doctors. Now, Aster DM Healthcare has sold its stake back to the promoters.

According to sources, “Aster DM Healthcare pulled out of the project as a 60-bed project was not fitting into its scheme of things. The group is keen on projects not less than 250 beds. Also, the revenue of the project per month (around Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.4 crore) did not justify the management bandwidth.”

In India, Aster DM Healthcare manages over 2,500 beds over eight hospitals, spread over Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra.
